Nothing says Sunday morning like lazy vibes and candles! Check out @wax_wick and their assortment of 100% soy candles handmade in the USA. I dare you not to buy them all. I’m eyeing the espresso, mulled cider, & whisky 👀
Why soy? Soy candles burn cleanly and slowly, unlike tradition candles. “Most candles are made of paraffin wax, which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned (both are known carcinogens). In fact, the toxins released from paraffin candles are the same as those found in diesel fuel fumes,” (Wellness Mama).
“Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.
The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed,” (Candle Science Inc.)
