Sustainable material discovery: Copper.

After discovering @copperh2o, I learned so much about the health benefits of copper, and dug deeper to see if this material was actually sustainable. Water stored in a copper vessel (“tamra jal” in Ayurvedic medicine), balances the three doshas in your body (vata, kapha and pitta) by gently infusing the water with the positive health properties of copper. Water stored in a copper water bottle will also become natural alkaline water, which helps balance your body’s pH levels. Because copper is naturally anti-bacterial, our copper water bottles are naturally self-sterilizing and do not require as much cleaning as other water bottles.

Health benefits include: improved digestion system, clear skin, cancer and aging prevention, stronger immune system, maintains cardiovascular health, supports the thyroid gland, stimulates the brain, and fights arthritis / inflamed joints.

Copper is found in nature and 100% recyclable! In fact, most of the copper mined since the dawn of time is still in circulation today. Copper also serves as an important material in LEED certified (eco-friendly) architecture as well as renewable energy sources! Copper mining has become increasingly safer and more sustainable due to advances in technology. Today, modernized copper mines are able to exert a minimal impact on their surrounding environments.
Modern copper mines use less water and promote re-vegetation on the rocks and earth that are discarded after the copper is extracted. Modern copper mines can also extract pure copper from ores that measure less then 1% pure copper. All in all, copper is so beneficial to our bodies and sustainable living.
