Picked up some fractionated coconut oil from Terralite when I ordered my amazing lavender candle from them. Until recently, I kind of assumed fractionated coconut oil was simply liquid coconut oil, which is half right, but the process and benefits are quite different. In a nutshell (pun intended), fractionated coconut oil is liquid coconut oil minus the long-chain fatty acids. This is extracted when making fractionated coconut oil, and we are left with medium-chain fatty acids. This difference in skincare for example, means that fractionated coconut oil will not clog your pores. In fact, fractionated coconut oil is best for make up removal, moisturizing, and works as a carrier oil if you’re using essential oils. Traditional extra virgin coconut oil will indeed clog your pores and will not penetrate through your skin as well due to the fatty acids, which will lead to breakouts. Having tried both on my face, there is no doubt that fractionated coconut oil is the better oil for skincare. How I use it: pour some on a cotton pad and wipe my face down to remove my eye makeup and dirt from my face. Done. My skin radiates every morning after using this oil, and improves the appearance of my facial scars! Sustainable, ethical, natural, and cruelty free 👌🏼
